How to engage the listener

When scoring I believe that the audio and visual aspects of the project should mesh together perfectly. In order to keep the audience engaged and waiting patiently for the story to unfold right in front of them.
9 times out of 10 if the composition does not line up with the storyline everything can seem so confusing and hard to follow. Having a full sound that line up from cue to cue gives the audience exactly what they want, which is to be entertained. If the sound is thin the best way to fatten it up is to stack more instruments playing the same melody or harmony right on top of each other. Making sure that everything is EQ'd and sharing the space when it comes to frequency is a perfect way to make the sound come to life. Each instrument needs dynamics and panning to give that surround sound that so many consumers are used to today. Throwing a few different sounds in during transitions to distract the listener from the changing of scenes. Depending on the genre of the project you have to make sure that everything you use makes sense with the groove you have created. Sometimes dynamic out there highly produces songs bring a project to life. Especially when there is no dialogue and nothing but action. But when there is dialogue a minimalistic approach is always best. Shimmering string harmonies that sit well in the background are always great. Never keep the sounds the same each 8 bars change something to keep the sound refreshing, exciting, and new. Well those were a few idea's to keep the sound engaging to your listeners. More advice to come, this is just something to launch the blog on my website. Take care guys!
